Special Feldenkrais Research Symposium
FELDENKRAIS AS SOMATO-PHYSIOLOGY
at

MOVEMENTIS
Sixth International Movement and Cognition Conference
Prague, Charles University, 13-15 Sept 2024

Submission Deadline: Feb 20 2024

A special Feldenkrais Research Symposium dedicated to the theme of the Feldenkrais Method as Somato-Physiology will be included in the Sixth International Conference on Brain, Body, Cognition, to take place at Charles University, Prague between 13-15 September, 2024

The aim of the conference is to share knowledge on the relation of human movement to cognitive function and to establish dialogue between professionals from different disciplines. The conference is a cross-disciplinary professional gathering that brings together academic theorists, researchers, and practitioners who treat their patients with body techniques.

The special Feldenkrais Symposium provides an opportunity for researchers of the Feldenkrais Method to share ideas, and to engage with scientists and practitioners from other somatic modalities. The theme of this year’s Feldenkrais Research Symposium, “Feldenkrais as Somato-Physiology” (as first-person experience of the lived body in connection with research into physiology) speaks to the Feldenkrais Method as a somatic educational practice affecting individual physiology and psyche through moving with awareness. This theme emphasizes the relation between first and second-person embodied experience with neurobiology in terms of understanding and researching the Feldenkrais Method. Abstracts may refer to any subject relating to the theme of this symposium, including original research, theoretical perspectives,  case studies as well as conceptualization of new methodologies for research into the Feldenkrais Method as Somato-Physiology.  Abstracts integrating theory and practice in relation with the theme of the symposium will be especially welcome. The Symposium will include a chair, and up to four presenters. The Symposium is scheduled in an 80-minute time slot and should allow for discussion among presenters and the audience.

Presenters in the Symposium are also invited to submit separate abstract proposals to teach a workshop. Please send these abstracts directly to the conference organizers.
